That's not the AR way but due to the different finishes on the barrel and extension I think it's possible.Įither that or the entire barrel rotated in the receiver when they were tightening the barrel nut and either deformed the receiver or deformed and/or partially sheared the timing key. This implies that the barrels might be machine, finished, and THEN the extension is installed and tightened in time with the gas block. The HK barrel was machined incorrectly, before finishing. The barrel has a timing notch that mates with a tongue on the gas block so it's not that the block was drilled and pinned at a slight angle which occurs on some AR's and AK's. It is clearly canted, not due to the barrel and handguard not being concentric. ![]() ![]() My 2021 date coded MR556 has a gas block like that.
